A photo purportedly showing a bashful Bigfoot peeking from behind a tree at a Sasquatch hunter in Michigan woods sparked a debate on social media when it first emerged on Instagram some years ago.

Bigfoot enthusiast Jarrod Evilsizor reportedly captured the controversial photograph while exploring Michigan woods in search of Sasquatch evidence.

The date of the alleged encounter is unknown. But Jarrod first shared the photo with fellow Bigfoot enthusiasts on the @bigfootevidence Instagram page late in 2022. The controversial photo has come again under media spotlight.

The latest alleged photographic evidence of Bigfoot comes after a man shared a photograph taken by a game camera supposedly showing a Bigfoot-like creature walking alone in the dark in Montana woods.

Another enthusiast reported stumbling upon nine-inch-wide Bigfoot prints in Virginia woods.

A bashful Bigfoot behind a tree?

The Bigfoot hunter snapped the photograph while walking on a path in the forest in Upper Peninsula, Michigan.

According to the @bigfootevidence Instagram page, Jarrod is a Bigfoot researcher “who travels these areas constantly filming and has gathered some convincing evidence.”

One of the trees in the center of his camera frame shows a dark shape on the side of the tree.

The Instagram page also uploaded two closeups of the black shape and tried to nudge enthusiasts to play along with a narrative of “Sasquatch evidence.”

“If you look closely, You can make out the ridge of his eyebrow!” the moderator wrote. “After speaking with Jarrod, I am confident this isn’t something he is trying to fake or gain anything from.”

Instagram reactions

Viewers offer mixed reactions to the alleged Sasquatch evidence.

While some said the photograph gave new evidence, others remained unconvinced. A few took their cue from the Instagram page moderator.

“WOW, he [Bigfoot] is looking around the tree,” a believer exclaimed.

But others, including even confessed believers, were skeptical.

“It’s a stump and I believe in this s**t,” a believer protested.

“It’s a stump… god forbid they move closer and actually get a better photo to prove otherwise,” a second commented.

C’mon man… you’re wasting our time,” a third user shot back.

Others decided to keep an open mind.

“If it is a squatch then I’d imagine it moved at some point, so it’d be helpful to see the same tree from the same angle without the “squatch”,” one open-minded viewer wrote.

“I would ask for an after shot to compare as it could be a part of the tree?” a second commented.

One even suggested it could be a “cloaked” Bigfoot.

“Cloaking” is an alleged technology that aliens use to hide UFOs from humans.

Was it pareidolia?

Some skeptical viewers declared that the believers who thought they saw a Bigfoot in the photo were experiencing a phenomenon known as pareidolia.

“Pareidolia…. Thats a broken off tree stump,” a skeptic remarked.

“Pareidolia. It’s a fallen tree stump,” another said.

Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon that makes people see meaning patterns in otherwise meaningless or random visual stimuli.
