An engineer and former defense contractor claimed the US government kept an egg-shaped metallic UFO at Area 51.

Eric Taber told the Daily Mail that his uncle Sam Urquhart, who worked at Area 51 during the 1980s as a defense contractor, shared stories of mysterious goings-on at the top-secret USAF facility in Nevada.

Taber testified to investigators from the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) in May.

CIA recovered the UFO from the desert in Nevada

Taber told the Daily Mail that he worked as a defense contractor for about a decade. His late great-uncle, Sam Urquhart, served 28 years in the USAF. He served in Vietnam and later the Gulf wars and died in August 2022 at 75.

From 1997 until 2014, he worked at Area 51 as a security and data configuration specialist with the defense contractor EG&G,

Taber questioned his uncle about rumors that the authorities kept alien technology at Area 51. At first, Urquhart did not want to talk, but he reluctantly opened up after Taber pestered him about it.

Uncle Urquhart told Taber that soon after he arrived at Area 51 in 1997, he interacted with engineers involved in a reverse engineering project.

They were working on a craft the CIA allegedly recovered under mysterious circumstances from the Nevada desert and brought to Area 51 in the 1980s.

Egg-shaped craft was SUV size

The CIA kept the craft at an Area 51 storage facility, where top scientists and technicians spent years studying it.

But they could not understand the technology behind it. They had no idea how it worked, how to power it up or operate it.

He described the alleged UFO as an egg-shaped object about the size of an SUV. The seamless exterior had a metallic gray color. It had a smooth surface with no visible structures or inscriptions.

It had no visible controls, exhaust, aeronautical flaps, door handles, and latches.

Engineers couldn’t get inside the UFO

Government engineers assigned to the UFO project couldn’t even get inside it. They tried, unsuccessfully, to use imaging techniques, including X-ray, to see inside it.

They also tried to pierce through the hardened metallic shell but couldn’t. They also couldn’t chip the material to take samples for testing.

However, analysis suggested that the material was not a product of human technology.

They gave up on the craft following years of fruitless effort to understand its design and engineering. They moved it from Area 51 to an undisclosed location, possibly the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

Urquhart stumbled upon evidence

Urquhart told Taber that he saw a color photograph of the alleged UFO while working in a secure vault known to Area 51 staff as the Taj Mahal.

He recognized it as the UFO the engineers told him about.

However, although Taber shared photos of his uncle posing with his professional colleagues, he did not have any photos showing the alleged egg-shaped UFO.
