A Christchurch resident reported filming a “doughnut-shaped” flying saucer UFO soaring over the city in New Zealand.
Nicholas Glasson shared the UFO video (scroll down to view) he captured at 8:30 p.m. on December 21 with the NZ Herald.
He was walking home from work when he spotted an odd-shaped object in the sky. He was so surprised that he stared at it for “ages.”
At first, he thought it was city trash–such as a plastic bag–that the wind threw up. However, after looking closely, he realized it was something unusual.
The late sighting comes after Glasgow residents reported a multicolored UFO in the sky over the Scottish city.
UFO was flat, disc-like, and doughnut-shaped
Glasson told the NZ Herald that the shape of the UFO was unusual. It was flat like a disc or a flying saucer but had a doughnut or ring shape. He compared the flight motion to gliding. It swayed when hovering in the air.
The witness had a strange feeling that the UFO or someone in it was observing him.
He eventually decided to film it. He captured a one-minute-long video on his Samsung Galaxy S22 and shared it with the Herald.

Alien tech or time-traveling drone?
The video shows a dark, disc-like, doughnut-shaped UFO hovering in the sky.
Glasson explained that he saw it while walking home after work. He guessed it was large but looked small in the video because it was high up in the sky.
“I thought it might be some trash, or a bird or something,” he commented. “To my surprise, it started moving South and maneuvering enough to reveal that it was not only flat but also hollow like a donut!”
“This is absolutely bizarre!” he added.
He then asked viewers to share opinions on what they thought it was. He also offered suggestions:
“Drones sent back in time to survey? Alien Tech? Foreign Tech? who knows…,” he speculated.
An expert commented on the video
Herald contacted experts at an Auckland observatory for their opinion.
An educator at the observatory agreed the footage was “strange,” but could not say what it was because it was blurry. However, he dismissed suggestions that it could be of an otherworldly origin.
He thought it was most likely a balloon or even more likely a drone.
The expert noted that the witness filmed the object during the daytime. Thus, it was something in the atmosphere. It couldn’t be a meteor or satellite in space because they are only visible from Earth at night.
