Residents of the Italian city of Milan took to social media to share photos and videos of strange lights in the sky over the city. The sightings sparked alien UFO speculation, and some suggested that an alien invasion was happening.

However, it turned out that the lights came from lasers installed at a Christmas village in the city suburb.

Mysterious rings of light in the sky

Hundreds of Milanese took to Twitter and other social media platforms on Wednesday, December 27, to share photos and videos showing bright rings of light hovering over the city. Some claimed they first saw them on December 24.

Many were baffled and said they had never seen similar formations in the sky before.

Alien UFOs in the sky?

Some witnesses said they were UFOs, and others joked about space invaders.

However, multiple media sources confirmed that the lights were not UFOs. They came from lasers installed on the ground at the indoor Christmas park at the Allianz MiCo (CityLife), Milan, the Daily Mail reported.

The park covers an area of 20,000 square meters and features Christmas-themed attractions. It opened on December 7 and runs until January 7.

Strange lights over Scotland

Some social media users suggested the lights were portals to other dimensions.

It is not the first time paranormal enthusiasts have suggested that lights in the sky were dimensional portals.

Paramoral papers reported that some residents of Edinburgh and neighboring communities in Scotland speculated that strange lights over the city on December 19 were portals to higher dimensions.

However, meteorologists explained they were a type of cloud formation known as nacreous or rainbow pearl clouds.

Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite train?

Other residents of Milan thought the lights were from Elon Musks’s Starlink satellite train.

The satellites operated by Musk’s SpaceX are usually visible across the United States shortly after launch as a string of lights in the sky. However, they disperse after reaching an altitude of about 340 miles (550 kilometers) and become less visible to observers on Earth.

SpaceX currently has a fleet consisting of thousands of Starlink satellites in orbit. People have mistaken the satellites for UFOs as they pass overhead in the night sky.

Residents of Central Georgia mistook them for UFOs in July. Some called the police to report an alien invasion.

However, experts doused fears by announcing that they were only satellites operated by Musk’s company.

Weeks later, residents of New Jersey also mistook the satellites for UFOs. The mass sighting sparked alien UFO invasion fears, but experts once again explained that they were only SpaceX satellites.
