Texas residents mistook a family’s Christmas lights for aliens landing in a UFO.

A Georgetown family in a festive mood decorated their house with bright flashing lights visible for miles around. The lights attracted the attention of UFO enthusiasts who thought an alien invasion had started.

UFO hunters set out from neighboring communities to witness an alien invasion. But when they arrived at the scene, they found they were not aliens but a Texan family in a holiday season mood.

Texas man set up giant Santa Claus and 13,000 lights

Georgetown resident Chris Hartgraves and his family have a tradition of celebrating Christmas in a big way. But this year, they decided to go the extra mile.

They decorated their Rancho Sienna neighborhood home in the 600 block of Saturina Dr. with a giant Santa Claus and 13,000 lights. They also displayed lights above their roof.

Hartgraves told KXAN he started planning the elaborate holiday season decorations last year. He set up the decorations ong before Christmas and put up a special show for the weekends. The lights made a spectacular splash alongside holiday season music playing in a loop. He varied the display every weekend.

UFO hunters flocked to investigate

The Christmas display was visible for miles. People came from surrounding communities, wondering what was happening.

Residents took to Facebook to inquire about strange lights hovering over Georgetown. The inquiries sparked excited chatter, and curious people who set out to trace the source began flocking to the Hartgraves family home.

Among the investigators were UFO hunters who believed it could be aliens landing in time for Christmas.

Some thought they were Musk’s Starlink

Hartgraves told KXAN that he was aware of the chatter on social media. He said that although some thought it might be aliens visiting, others suggested it could be Elon Musk’s Starlink.

People have recently mistaken lights from the Starlink satellite constellation for UFOs. Paranormal Papers reported in September that New Jersey residents mistook a Starlink satellite constellation operated by SpaceX for an alien spacecraft.

The lights, visible over areas of New Jersey on the night of September 15, led to a mild panic. Hundreds of residents fearing an alien invasion called the police.

Residents of Central Georgia also reported lights over their communities earlier in July. The sightings sparked a flurry of calls to the police and news outlets.

Many believed an alien spacecraft was passing over their communities. But experts calmed fears by explaining it was the Starlink satellite constellation.

Texas law enforcement came to investigate

According to KXAN, calls to the police about strange lights over Georgetown forced law enforcement to visit the Hartgraves’ home.

The officers were concerned that the lights could confuse airplanes coming to land at nearby airports. But after inspecting, they left convinced they were not a risk to air traffic.

Hartgraves concluded that the decoration and music added to the festive spirit in the neighborhood. Children came out to watch the light bulb animation and dance to the music, which included voice recordings by his wife and daughters.
