Was Evie talking to the ghost of her uncle Tim? Pic credit: via History/YouTube
A recent episode of History Channel’s The Proof is Out There aired a video that shows a 22-month-old toddler, Evelyn, having an animated conversation with her late uncle’s ghost.
According to Evie’s mother, Tana, one day in December 2021, she walked in on her daughter and immediately noticed something odd. She immediately began filming (see video below).
Evie was alone in the room, but she seemed to have company. The video shows the infant sitting in her chair and seemingly chatting with someone standing before her.
“Who are you talking to?” Tana asks.
Did Evie have an invisible friend?
Tana seemed to have interrupted Evie’s conversation with an invisible companion. The toddler looks sideways at her mother as if disapproving of the interruption. She turns back to stare in front of her.
She ignores her mother and screams excitedly, waving her hands and jumping in her walker.
“Uncle,” she shouts in delight, her gaze fixed in front of her.
“Who are you talking to,” her mother asks again.
Evie appears focused on an invisible person in front of her. She barely pays attention to her mom.
“Uncle?” she says again. Her tone sounds like she was wondering why the person was not responding.
She waves a finger in front of her impatiently and appears to say, “Uncle, look!”
She taps her right forefinger against her left wrist as if trying to show him something.
Was she seeing Uncle Tim’s ghost?
While it wasn’t clear what Evie was trying to say or show her invisible friend, it seemed she thought she was interacting with someone.
“Who are you talking to?” Tana asks again. She seemed spooked by her toddler’s focus on an invisible friend in front of her.
Evie seems to notice her mom for the first time since she entered.
“Shhh,” she says playfully with her finger across her lips as if telling her mother not to interrupt.
Evie’s Uncle Tim lived with the family
Tana revealed that her brother Tim lived in the house with Evie’s grandmother, Deborah Henley. But he died recently from an accidental drug overdose.
Deborah looked after Evie during the day. She said that Tim often accompanied her to the park.
Tim was part of Evie’s life until he died of a drug overdose a month before the strange incident Tana captured on video.
Deborah was sure Evie was communicating with Tim’s ghost
Deborah said that after Tim died, Evie continued talking about him as if he was still alive.
“She talked a lot about Tim,” she said. “She would say things that I don’t think she knew as a young child.”
A video shows Evie saying that Tim was happy about something.
“Who else is happy? Tana asks
“Tim happy,” the infant says.
“She was talking to him. I’m almost sure of it,” Deborah commented.
Young children can see ghosts, an expert said
Paranormal author Alex Brooks explained that young children have a “sixth sense.” The sixth sense enables them to see things–such as ghosts–that adults can’t.
According to Brooks, some paranormal theories suggest babies can see beyond the visible spectrum of light and thus participate in the world of ghosts and spirits.
Presenter Tonny Harris then cites other examples of young children appearing to communicate with ghosts or unseen entities around them.
However, physicist Michio Kaku suggested that Evie was only engaged in imaginary play. Young children don’t always distinguish between imagination and reality and thus may invent imaginary friends and play with them as if they were real.
