Explorers have allegedly found a hidden network of underground caves that could be Loch Ness Monster’s underground lair.
The caves are reportedly part of a system of interlinked caverns running underground and reaching deep beneath Loch Ness, the monster’s deep freshwater residence.
Enthusiasts suggested the caverns could explain the mystery behind Nessie’s legendary elusiveness. They also proposed exploring them to find the mythical monster.
TikTokers organized the search for Nessie’s lair
A group of Loch Ness Monster enthusiasts reportedly organized the search.
TikToker Page Daley coordinated the group on her TikTok account, the @lochnessmonsterofficial, which she operates as a Nessie fan club.
The explorers claimed they discovered the system of caverns last week. They also claimed they found a network of passages with multiple entrances connecting the caves.
The caverns and the interlinking flood passages, entrances, and exits were spacious, making them ideal places for a massive dinosaur-like creature, such as the legendary Loch Ness Monster, to hide from prying eyes and evade detection.
Interlinked underground caverns reach beneath Loch Ness
Daley announced the discovery on TikTok after months of alleged exploratory search.
“The research has been undertaken,” she said in a TikTok video. “We found something completely mind-blowing.”
“And the news is kinda out there that we found a cave system that could be Nessie’s lair,” she continued.
She then explained that the team conducted extensive searches around Loch Ness using drones. They found multiple entrances to underwater passages at the edge of the water.
The passages led to interlinked caverns deep beneath the lake.
Locals reported seeing Nessie emerging from its lair
She said that diving underwater to investigate the caverns was challenging because of the depth and darkness of the lake.
“The depth and darkness of the water at this location were eerie,” Daley said.
But what the team found interesting was that locals had reported seeing the legendary monster emerging from the loch in the area where they found the entrances.
The witnesses allegedly said they saw Nessie emerging from the loch, crossing the nearby road, and returning by the same route.
The sightings suggested to Daley that the explorers might have discovered the entrance to Nessie’s lair.
Daley declined to share the location
The team was surprised to discover the network of caves with multiple entrances. Daley said they wouldn’t share the coordinates of the entrances because they were remote and difficult to access.
Amateur divers who tried to access them would be risking their lives.
“Now it is in a very remote and dangerous to get to location; not for the faint of heart and its certainly something we are not gonna be sharing publicly,” she explained.
However, she said their discovery pointed to the need for those planning the Big Search to investigate the possibility that the Loch Ness Monster hides in the interlinked system of caverns beneath the lake.
“This has really opened up a huge can of worms, guys,” she said.” It is pretty exciting.”
Loch Ness in the highlands of Scotlands is a freshwater lake southwest of Inverness. It is part of multiple interconnected bodies of freshwater lakes in Scotland.
It is the second-largest freshwater lake in Scotland by surface area.
Loch Ness is the biggest lake in Scotland by volume (it contains more water than any other Scottish lake). However, Loch Lomond is bigger by surface area, and Morar is deeper.
Loch Ness has a maximum depth of 230 meters (755 feet), less than Loch Morar, which has a maximum depth of 310 m (1,017 ft).
The alleged discovery comes amid the Big Search
The alleged discovery of a network of interlinked caves beneath Loch Ness comes after a group announced an upcoming Big Search.
The search is being promoted as the biggest organized search for Nessie since the 1970s.
According to the BBC, the Loch Ness Centre in Drumnadrochit and a research group called Loch Ness Exploration organized the search scheduled for August 26-27.
They plan to search using drones fitted with infrared cameras and hydrophones to detect strange underwater sounds.
The Loch Ness Investigation Bureau conducted the last large-scale organized search for Nessie in 1972.
